Catholic social teaching is a central and essential element of our faith. Catholic social teaching is built on a commitment to the poor. We are called to reach out and to build relationships of love and justice.
Catholic social teaching is based on and is inseparable from our understanding of human life and human dignity. Every human being is created in the image of God and redeemed by Jesus Christ and therefore is invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family. Human dignity comes from God, not from any human quality or accomplishment.

It is through the Parish Outreach Ministry that we attempt to live the social justice challenge.
The Ongoing Work That We Do
If you would like to help with any of the projects, please call the Rectory so that the chair of the Parish Outreach Ministry can contact you with more information.
Dinner with a Cause: Every October and April the committee hosts a simple supper and invites a non-profit agency to talk about their mission. A free will offering is collected for the agency.
Operation Christmas Child: In October and November shoe boxes are distributed to parishioners. The boxes that have been filled with toys, games, clothes, etc., are collected and then taken to a distribution center to be shipped worldwide.
Thanksgiving Day Food Collection: Non-perishable food is collected during the week of Thanksgiving and at the 9:00 am Mass on Thanksgiving Day. The food is donated to New Covenant Center.
Christmas Giving Tree: Gift card requests are collected from the tree. The returned cards are distributed to Jewish Family Services for their clients in the refugee resettlement program.
The Undies Project: In February we collect new underwear for the Undies Project. The items are distributed to 30 different agencies that the Undies Project serves.
Inspirica Bedding and Cleaning Supplies: In March we collect new bedding and cleaning supplies for unhoused people being eased into their own living quarters.
PS 85: In May we gather toys for the summer school program at PS 85 in the Bronx.
JFS Back to School: In June and July school supplies for the clients of Jewish Family Services.
Weekly Efforts
Food & Essentials Collection for Neighbor to Neighbor: Tuesdays from 9-11am in the parking lot across from the church we collect non-perishable foods and essentials for Neighbor to Neighbor.
New Covenant Center Sunday Meal: Every Sunday one of the several teams from our parish and neighboring groups prepares the midday meal at New Covenant Center.
