At St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes Parish, the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child, young person, and vulnerable adult entrusted to our care are a sacred responsibility. We are committed to fostering an environment where all members of our parish community can grow in faith with confidence, knowing they are respected, protected, and valued.
In 2002, the Catholic Bishops of the United States established comprehensive Safe Environment policies through the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People (commonly known as the Charter). Since then, every Catholic diocese in the United States has implemented Safe Environment Programs to promote accountability, transparency, and the protection of those we serve.
The Diocese of Bridgeport's Safe Environment Office, under the leadership of its full-time Director, Erin Neil, L.C.S.W., oversees the implementation of these important policies throughout the Diocese. The program includes victim assistance and support, criminal background screenings, Codes of Conduct for clergy, employees, and volunteers, and ongoing education and training in child abuse awareness and prevention.
All priests, deacons, employees, and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults are required to complete Safe Environment training and comply with diocesan policies before serving in ministry. Through these efforts, we strive to ensure that our parish remains a place where faith is nurtured in an atmosphere of trust, respect, and compassion.
Together, we share the responsibility of creating a safe and welcoming community where every person can encounter the love of Christ in a secure and caring environment.
