Dr. Alla Borzova, D. M. A. is the award-winning composer, conductor, pianist, organist, and soprano. Born in Minsk, Belarus, she has been the winner of All-Union Composition Competition before her arrival in the U.S. in 1993, Frederick Delius International Competition, and a recipient of many awards and honors, including Goddard Lieberson Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; Copland Recording Grant, and multiple residencies-Brahmshaus in Germany, Yaddo in the U.S. All-Borzova compact disks include orchestral music (Naxos “American Classics” series), recorded by the Michigan State University Children’s Choir, soloists and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin’s direction; chamber music “Pinsk & Blue” (Albany Records), recorded by the Naumburg Award winning Da Capo Chamber Players, guest musicians, and a composer as a pianist and conductor. Borzova’s compositions have been presented at Aspen, Cabrillo, Delius, and Sonic Boom music festivals in the U.S. and major festivals in Russia and Belarus, such as Moscow Musical Autumn, Sound Ways (St. Petersburg) and Belarusian Musical Autumn (Minsk). Her music has also been commissioned and presented by the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra (Marin Alsop’s direction), Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Cassatt String Quartet, Cutting Edge concert series, St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble, Dale Warland Singers, New Amsterdam Singers, Central City Chorus, The New York Concert Singers, Gregg Smith Singers, National Symphony Orchestra of Belarus, Symphony Orchestra and Choirs of Belarusian Radio and Television, as well as individual performers from all over the world. Her collection of organ settings has been published by The Sacred Music Press, a division of the esteemed Lorenz Corporation. Borzova holds a Doctorate in Composition from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, studying with Alexander Pirumov, and did the additional doctoral studies at The City University of New York Graduate School with David Del Tredici. She was on the faculties of Hunter and Lehman Colleges of The City University of New York. Her music can be heard on her YouTube and Vimeo channels. Alla Borzova composed her latest organ piece Christus Vincit, Jubilate! for Dr. Petrides' recital at the Fifth International Organ Festival in Rome where it was premiered on September 5 2025.
