Anointing of the Sick

anointing of the sick 2

St. James, in his letter, says that, if there are any sick among you, call for the presbyters of the church to lay hands on them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And this prayer of faith will save the sick and if they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven.

The sacrament of anointing may be received by those who are seriously ill, or weakened by age, or before surgery.

The sacrament is administered at St. Catherine’s to the sick and dying who request it in their homes, nursing homes, or in the hospital.
The communal celebration of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated in May each year in the church and is followed with a luncheon in the Lucey Parish Hall.

Visiting the Sick

The clergy are happy to visit the sick at home or in the hospital.  Please contact Father Mark D’Silva (203-637-3661 ext, 311), if you or a family member would like a visit or Holy Communion.
